The North Carolina Zoo’s UNITE conservation education and teacher training program in Uganda has been operating in the villages around Kibale National Park for ten years. Home to East Africa's largest chimpanzee population and the region's highest density of primates, Kibale is under  pressure from substantial human encroachment.

UNITE helps conserve wild areas in and around the national park by promoting environmentally-sound attitudes, knowledge and skills in the people living nearby.
