Giraffe Babies are Fair Weather Friends
Giraffe Babies are Fair Weather Friends
04/08/2009
The two new calves and the two nearly two-year old calves are on exhibit now -- at least on days when the weather cooperates.
As long as the ground is dry and the temperature is above around 50 degrees, the little ones are outside with Julie, our matriarch, the Zebras and the Ostriches. The youngest giraffes are full of vim and vigor—they have been bolting around the exhibit having a great time!
The Zoo keeps its Giraffes off exhibit whenever the ground is wet because Giraffes are more likely to slip and fall if the ground is muddy.
