Visitors can get a first-hand look at how the North Carolina Zoo helps its animals beat the heat when the park hosts ZooCool on Saturday, Aug. 9, and Sunday, Aug. 10, beginning at 10 a.m. each day.
The chimpanzees, gorillas, cougars and polar bear, along with other animals, will gobble up and play with ice treats throughout the day as keepers give talks on how they keep the animals cool. Meanwhile, environmentalist singer/songwriter Pamlico Joe will perform in the Zoo’s Junction Plaza.
For a special treat, evaporative snow machines will precipitate frosted flakes on the bridge just inside the park’s North America entrance. Snow in August -- What will they think of next?!
The Zoo has posted a detailed schedule of all
ZooCool activities on its Web site. Keep in mind, that inclement weather could cause the Zoo to cancel an event.
