The Nature of Poetry

"Nature is a setting that fits equally well a comic or mourning piece."  Although Ralph Waldo Emerson wrote this over 170 years ago, it still holds true today.  Join poet Sue Farlow to explore the beauty of the natural world through descriptive poetry. 

After looking at samples of poems, participants will take a walk around the Zoo to closely observe and discuss our surroundings.  We will then write our own nature poem.  Please bring paper (or notebook) and pens, comfortable shoes and a jacket or umbrella in case of rain.
