PBI Workshop at the North Carolina Zoo - March 1
This afternoon workshop is for Zoo and Museum Staff and Volunteers who want to improve their capacity to communicate effectively about global climate change and want to help ordinary people become active participants in activities that can slow temperature changes and help protect Polar Bears.
Led by staff from Polar Bears International and by Zoo staff trained as Arctic Ambassadors, this workshop will help participants master the basics for communicating about global climate change and for inspiring people to take action in defense of the Arctic and of Polar Bears.
The workshop's three sections will:
- Discuss Global Climate Change in the context of the science that tracts and predicts climate changes and in relation to the impact that these changes are having on the Arctic and on Polar Bear populations;
- Review the literature that examines the public's attitudes toward climate change as well as studies that evaluate the best methods for inspiring people to take action to protect wildlife;
- Describe several successful Zoo and community-based conservation actions programs that can serve as model for future programs.
This workshop will be held at the North Carolina Zoo, Stedman Education Building, Multi-purpose room; 4401 Zoo Parkway Asheboro, NC 27205 on Thursday March 1, 2012 Time: 2 – 6:30 p.m.
