Vote or I’ll Croak! Candidate 1
Carolina Gopher Frog
(
Rana capito)
My Campaign Slogan
I am not now, nor have I ever been, a Toad!
I am rare, round and love the underground.
(Recording courtesy of Walter Knapp)
My Campaign Promise
I’ll help Keep North Carolina Green and Clean.
A vote for me is a vote to protect rare and wonderful frogs (and toads, too, even though, I am not a toad!)
If elected, I will leap on the bandwagon to help people protect my
neighborhood (the Longleaf Pine forest in the Sandhills and the Coastal
Plains) and wetlands and forest all across the state.

Candidate 2
Pine Barrens Treefrog
(
Hyla andersonii)
My Campaign Slogan
I don’t have ribs, but I do have a spine!
I stand up for you and for clean air and water!
(Recording from Frogs and Toads of Georgia Web site.)
My Campaign Promise:
I’ll help keep North Carolina Green and Clean. I need clean
water, air and forests to stay healthy and I want you to have them, too.
My Campaign Jingle
I am Sandhills born, I am Sandhills bred and, when I eat, I
am Sandhills fed! For its rah, rah, Carolina Bays. Rah, rah Carolina
bogs.
Rah, rah Carolina Longleaf Pines.
Candidate 3
Cope’s Gray Treefrog
Hyla chrysoscelis
My Campaign Slogan
I can change my colors to fit in, but I’ll never change

my mind about clean water! I care about healthy forests, too.
(Recording from the Frogs and Toads of Georgia Web site)
My Campaign Promise
I’ll help Keep North Carolina Green and Clean! I’ve got relatives
living from the coast to the mountains and the Sandhills to the
Virginia border. I want all of them and all of you to have clean water
and air!
If you elect me (or if you don’t), you can listen for the thrill of my
trill from May all through the summer. I sing to attract females and to
celebrate the rain! (That’s why some of my admirers call me a “rain
frog.”)
A vote for me links you to treefrogs across half of the United States.

I’m too tiny to leave clean water to chance. I need it, now, and so do my tadpoles.

My Campaign Promise

to protect wetlands at the beach and water all across the state. As
