Pre-school June Bugs ProgramsCamp InformationPrograms last an hour and begin at a Zoo exhibit. The $5 program free does not cover Zoo admission. (Zoo Society members pay $4 and admission is free with their membership.) We limit programs to 10 students. To Register: Call or e-mail us after April 1 and up until the closes Friday before a scheduled program.Payment should be made within one week of registration. Please make checks payable to N.C. Zoo Society and mail to N.C. Zoo Camps, 4401 Zoo Parkway, Asheboro NC, 27205. Please include your child’s name and “June Bugs” in the memo line on your check. ProgramsDIGGING INTO DESERTSStory: Around One CactusDate: Tuesday, June 17 Time: 10 a.m. Meeting Place: Outside the Desert Exhibit Description: Learn all about the amazing wildlife of the Sonora Desert. This program will introduce children to desert animals and plants through a story and a visit to the exhibit that will include a craft project and games. SUMMER SAFARI ADVENTUREStory: We All Went on SafariDate: Tuesday, June 17 Time: 10 a.m. Meeting Place: The Watani Grasslands Exhibit Description: This program engages children in learning Swahili words for counting and for some animals. We follow the interactive story with some games and crafts. ANIMAL COVERINGSStory: Animals Should Definietly Not Wear ClothingDate: Tuesday, July 1 Time: 10 a.m. Location: African Pavillion Exhibit Description: This program gets children using their senses to explore animal coverings and using their imaginations to learn why these coverings matter. WATCHING FOR WINGSStory: Waiting for WingsDate: Tuesday, July 1 Time: 10:00am Meeting Place: KidZone Butterfly Garden Description: Come and explore the life and adventures of butterflies in the Zoo’s butterfly garden. This program introduces students to the wild world of wings through story, drama, games and crafts. Children will make their a colorful butterfly craft to take home. WETLAND WONDERSStory: Near One CattailDate: Tuesday, August 5 Time: 10 a.m. Location: North American Wetland Boardwalk, under the North American Bridge. Description: In this program, children meet some of the many creatures that live in wetlands. The introductions depend on stories, crafts, games and some handshaking, marsh-dipping experiences. ARCTIC ADVENTUREStory: Far North in the Arctic – Counting Alaska’s AnimalsDate: Tuesday, August 5 Time: 10 a.m. Meeting Place: Underground Polar Bear Viewing Description: Campers cool off with some cool, northern creatures. This program acquaints children with the Arctic and explores how Polar Bears keep warm in frosty waters.
