- Description
The Zoo\'s Veterinary Section oversees the health and nutritional needs of the Zoo\'s animals and the non-zoo animals receiving treatment and rehabilitation services in the Valerie H. Schindler Wildlife Rehabilitation Center. Additionally, Zoo veterinarians conduct research and participate in conservation field projects that require veterinary assistance. Veterinary restricted donations to the North Carolina Zoo Society support these programs, sometimes supplementing state funding and sometimes funding projects entirely because they fall outside the scope of state-funded projects. Often, Society funding provides much-needed veterinary equipment or conservation interventions that would otherwise have to wait.
